Death Eaters And Volturri’s : How Similar Or Identical Are They?

Death Eaters

Two villlains from two different novels but with almost the same concept… How similar are Death Eaters and The Volturri to each other? Let’s take a look at them

Death Eaters (From JK Rowling’s Harry Potter)

In the Harry Potter movie, Voldemort leads a group of followers collectively known as: Death Eaters. Their goal? To rid the world of Muggleborns – they perceive of these people as unworthy to be alllowed entry or be given education at Hogwarts.

They kill Muggleborns and other people they perceive as threat or if not that, they perform the Unforgivable Curse – Crucio to name one of them. Failure , to Voldemort , is not an option.

Volturri

In Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight , we have the Volturri as our scary villain here. What makes them scary? They work together and are ruthless towards humans, werewolves, and even newborn vampires they consider as threat.

Almost similar to the Death Eaters in the Harry Potter movie, the Volturri’s have some rules that have to be observed or obeyed – The Cullens (comprised of Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, Jasper and Edward) aren’t allowed near the Quileute (a pack of werewolves) territory. Revealing their existence to humankind is also a no-no (which the Cullens didn’t follow or cared about following when they welcomed Bella into their lives).

The Volturri simply comprises of : Aro, Caius, Marcus, Sulpicia and Athenodora. Their purpose? To keep vampires hidden from the human world, mostly for their safety. But while their intentions and purpose is right, their methods weren’t as good as you thought them to be. Other rules that have to be followed were that: hunting must be inconspicuous, creating imortal children is a taboo or another big NO, vampires are not allowed to deal with werewolves , false witnesses are punished by death and so much more. And have you noticed? Jane , one of the Volturri, can perform a nonverbal Cruciatus Curse on anyone.

Just like the Death Eaters, the Volturri’s aren’t possibly the best leaders as they won’t hesitate killing humans, werewolves or even someone of their own kind.
